Press release: Lunawood boosts post-processing capacity

Lunawood invests in new thermowood post-processing capacity at its Soinlahti production plant by modernising the existing planing and packaging line. The new line will improve product quality, enable product packaging and banding and remove the bottlenecks to increasing the thermal processing capacity. Amounting to a total of approx. EUR 2 million, the investment will be implemented in January-February 2012.

Demand for and consumption of thermowood are steadily growing across the world. Oy Lunawood Ltd is the world’s leading manufacturer thermally modified wood. The company’s production plants are located in Iisalmi and Joensuu in eastern Finland, close to the sources of high-quality raw material. Lunawood’s product are exported worldwide to over 30 countries. The company’s net sales in 2010 reached EUR 15 million. Additionally, Lunawood has a subsidiary called Lunacomp Oy that started the production of thermowood composite in spring 2011.
